Airline Advisory Council Job Description

Position: Member of the ACPC Airline Advisory Council

Overview: The ACPC Airline Advisory Council is a newly established body designed to provide strategic recommendations, industry insights, and fresh perspectives to the ACPC Board of Directors. As a member of the Airline Advisory Council, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction, impact, and success of the ACPC Annual Conference, ensuring its continued relevance and value within the aviation industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with fellow council members and the Board of Directors to provide strategic input on key aspects of the annual conference.
  • Offer expert insight into current industry trends, challenges, and innovations.
  • Act as a thought leader and representative of the airline sector, bringing diverse viewpoints to the table.
  • Contribute to enhancing the conference’s overall value, relevance, and impact within the aviation community.
  • Participate in 2 onsite planning meetings and engage in discussions on topics related to conference programming, partnerships, and initiatives.
  • Recruit and assign conference duties to Airline Volunteers.
  • Responsible for new airline participation recruitment in the ACPC, as well as providing a liaison between the airline participants and the ACPC
  • Assist ACPC in staffing the ACPC Conference for at least six hours. Duties could include assisting with the ACPC Gives Back Charity, Badge Pickup, the Airline New Attendee Orientation, the Private Airline Luncheon, Airline Roundtable Meetings, and the Closed Airline Meeting, along with assignments to other functions at the discretion of the ACPC staff.
  • Airline Company must provide at least two airline personnel who will participate in the entire Airline Roundtable Meeting event. This is a two-day day event, so the personnel assigned to this event need not be the same personnel throughout the entire event.

ACPC Airline Advisory Council Qualifications:

  • Meet eligibility requirements for Airline participation in the Air Carriers Purchasing Conference
  • Demonstrated expertise in the airline industry, with a strong understanding of current trends, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic insights and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
  • Passion for advancing industry knowledge and fostering professional growth through educational events.
  • Commitment to the mission and vision of the Air Carriers Purchasing Conference.
  • Adherence to the ACPC Code of Conduct.

Time Commitment: Advisory Council members are expected to attend two (2) onsite ACPC Planning meetings held at the host hotel for that year’s conference, along with occasional conference calls or virtual sessions as needed. Must be a registered airline attendee for that year’s ACPC. Must participate in the Thursday committee meeting, Thursday Committee Dinner, Friday Volunteer Training and Friday Volunteer/Past Chair Dinner.

Employer Letter of Support Requirement: Candidates must submit a letter of support from their current employer as part of the application. This letter should confirm that the employer:

  • Understands the responsibilities and time commitment associated with serving on the Airline Advisory Council.
  • Supports the candidate’s participation if selected.
  • Will allow the candidate to fulfill the duties of the Airline Advisory Council during the term of service.

This letter ensures alignment between the candidate’s professional obligations and their ability to serve effectively in the volunteer role.

Term: 1 year, with a limit of three consecutive terms. Terms run from October 1 through September 30, beginning the year that the member is appointed.
